Thank you so much for this recipe. I used the vinegar and baking soda mixture to remove urine stains and strong odors from my son’s carpeted room. It worked wonders! Both our puppy and our 2 year old are potty training and have peed on his floor several times a week. I made this concoction today (had to half it due to the size of my spray bottle), and I added 4 drops of lavender essential oil too. It worked like a dream. There’s a hint of lavender smell in his room and nothing else.

It did help me to remove the urine stains and a smell. However, it was awful chemical odor. I’ve checked on internet regarding the Peroxide toxicity…OMG, the vapor of Peroxide is toxic when inhaled. I tried to dry the mattress with a hair dryer and opened all the windows for a night and a day after to ventilate the room. But, still the smell did not go away completely. I wonder if this method of cleaning the surface is safe at all.

How to Remove Urine Stains from a Mattress

I have mattress covers on all of our beds, but I just discovered this week, that some work better than others. My toddler has been getting up during the night, probably needing to go to the bathroom. But, instead of making it to the bathroom, he finds another bed to climb in and goes back to sleep. We’ve found him in with my oldest and at the foot of my bed. This past week, he left me the gift of a peed mattress and I was mortified. I’ve never had to clean urine out of our mattresses. So, I went searching for a way to remove urine stains from a mattress and get rid of the awful urine smell and I came across a couple of amazing cleaners!
